Suntan Lotion
Posted in articles on 07/14/2009 07:12 pm by adminSuntan lotion is an essential part of our summer experience these days, either when we are exposed to the sun abroad or increasingly here in the UK. However as we learn more about the effects the sun has on skin we have become increasingly mindful of the sun lotions, sun blocks and sun screens that we choose for ourselves and our loved ones.
On the one hand it is important to remember that the term suntan lotion has developed a sense of ambiguity about it. Some people when using the term are referring to lotions that provide sun protection whilst others are referring to its ability to enhance tanning. Despite the above words of caution the vast majority of us still love tanning because it makes us look and feel healthy. It is important also to remember that the sun is an important source of vitamin D.
Although it’s sexy, savvy and summery to have a sun kissed glow, the best way to achieve it is not through sun-beds, but by using a fantastic sun lotion or a gradual self tanner, and to include a supplement of vitamin D in your diet. We all know how relaxing it is to sit in the sun, by a peaceful pool or a balmy beach, with a novel and a cocktail, and we are by no means saying that this is wrong. Whilst you’re in the sun, take care to:
· Wear a big floppy hat and huge alluring sunglasses
· Keep yourself hydrated
· Try to avoid midday sun
· Re apply after being in the water, as the sun’s rays penetrate water and this can result in sunburn. If you are going to spend a lot of time in water, use a waterproof suntan lotion and wear a t-shirt or wet suit.
· Regularly apply one of the suntan lotions that we have recommended above, you can buy these on this website.
If you follow these tips you shouldn’t get burnt, but if you do, then there are plenty of great after- sun lotions on the market to soothe your skin, go to our sister site- www.aftersun.co.uk to see a great range.
